School Profile SPED

President Manuel A. Roxas Memorial School South opened classes for the Hearing Impaired through the initiative of Mrs. Leni M. Diaz who was trained in teaching Hearing Impaired pupils.
In school year 2003 - 2004, a SpEd Center was established in the same school with the concept of a school within a school.  Dr. Erlinda Gencaya, a former Superintendent of the Division of Roxas City together with Dr. Eveleth Gamboa Division SpEd Supervisor initiated the organization of FL classes, Visually Impaired class, and classes for the Mentally Challenged in addition to the existing Hearing Impaired classes.  From that time onwards, President Manuel A. Roxas Memorial School South has catered to the needs of these children in all aspects.
In order to meet the demands of these children with special needs, the teaching staff of the SpEd Center had undergone proper trainings.  They attended seminar-workshops, conferences, and meetings just to gain knowledge and information on how to educate these special children and be treated equally like normal people in our society.
Because of the growing population, the Division of Roxas City through the Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Jesse M. Gomez, CESO V requested for the establishment of a SpEd school with a separate school head.  The request was approved March 27, 2008, for having complied with the basic requirement prescribed by the Department of Education, e.g. (a) at least three (3) exceptionalities being serve, (b) at least three (3) formally trained SpEd Teacher, (c) adequate number of children with special needs (CSN’s) being served, (d) available item for SpEd trained School Head. (e) available school buildings., classrooms; other facilities and (f) Plantilla items for teachers.  The approved name was Roxas City Special Education School.
The newly created SpEd School started its separation from the Mother School which is President Manuel A. Roxas Memorial School South during the opening of classes in June 2008.  After three months another request was made - the change of the name of the newly created SpEd School which is Roxas City Special Education School to

President Manuel A. Roxas Memorial School SpEd - for the following reasons: (a) to name with the honor of the late President Manuel A. Roxas manifest honor and dignity for the school the name carries with it a historical significance; (b) the name of the late President Roxas the 1st President of the 3rd Republic reminds/touches on the quality and excellence of Capizeños and (c) our stakeholders would feel dignified and would be proud of our school for its name sake.  The change of name was approved September 25, 2008.
The school continues to serve children with exceptionalities and those with disabilities with dedication.  This S.Y. 2011 –2012 P.M.R.M.S. - SPED organizes classes for the Headstart for the Gifted.
Effective School year 2019-2020 during the incumbency of Mr. Jose Richard C. Lachica aas Principal,  the school was elevated into an Integrated School  as approved by DepEd Regional Director Ma. Gemma M. Ledesma upon the recommendation of Schools Division of Roxas City naming it to President Manuel A. Roxas Memorial Integrated School—SPEd with the School Identification Number 501358 .  This is to accommodate learners with Special Educational Needs in junior high school  and gearing towards the senior high school.

Measurement and Evaluation System At President Manuel A. Roxas Memorial Integrated School–SPED school

The measurement and evaluation system in Capiz sped involves a combination of various methods. Here's a breakdown of the system:

Focus Group Discussion: This method allows for qualitative assessment, where students can engage in discussions, express their opinions, and provide feedback on specific topics. It helps in understanding their perspectives and experiences related to the curriculum.

Student Activity Monitoring: The evaluation system considers students' active participation, which includes their responsiveness in class discussions and their tendency to ask questions. Active participation reflects their engagement and understanding of the subject matter.

Cooperating Teacher Assessment: Involving cooperating teachers in the evaluation process can provide additional insights into students' progress and behavior. They can contribute their observations and opinions about students' performance in the classroom.

Quarterly Assessments: The school follows a quarterly assessment system, where each quarter focuses on a different subject. At the beginning of each quarter, students are tested on the content they learned in the previous quarter. At the end of the quarter, an evaluation is conducted to assess the students' understanding and retention of the material covered during that period.

This comprehensive evaluation system appears to be designed to ensure a holistic assessment of students' performance and understanding throughout the academic year. If you need further information or assistance related to the evaluation system or any other educational aspects
